I think this CD is effective as it includes the well know imagery that is seen in the music video for 'Do I wanna know' (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bpOSxM0rNPM). This allows for the audience to directly link music videos with the CD cover. The art work on the CD is also affective as it is very individual and creative. However, the CD cover even though it is creative is still very basic in terms of it is only using two colours. In addition the limited colour pallet is very common in artic monkey albums as a lot of their Cd covers use limited colours and black and white. This follows codes and conventions of the indie genre this music is from as most mainstream album covers with have imagery of the artist on. This shows more of a focus of the artist concept of imagery as the band only appear on the inside of the case putting the music before their image. It is also interesting as the front of the album does not include the name of the artist (this is on the back) most stereotypical cases have this.

Born and Raised- John Mayer.
This CD cover is extremely effective in terms of the layering and the art work used. This image was initially created by hand as I learnt from a documentary about the creation of the complex design. (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XdfreJmK9R4) This cover is also effective as it clearly presents the artist through the album cover. It is also very eye catching which is needed to sell a CD. Furthermore, it is very different from John Mayer's other album art as all of his other covers contain imagery of him. This makes this CD stand out. Furthermore, this case also does not follow the codes and conventions of CDs as the it does not carry an image of the artist. This suggests more of a focus on the music rather than being on John Mayer himself.
Sempiternal- Bring me the Horizon.
This CD cover is creative as it uses a very complex image on the front that has become a very well known symbol of the band. Furthermore, the name of the album 'Sempiternal means eternal and unchanging; the name of the album is highlighted through the imagery shown as the design seems to be unchanging and unchanging. Finally, the colours of the album cover also work well together, however, if it included more colour it would be more eye-catching. This case does not follow codes and conventions of CDS as it does not show the artists and does not include the name of the band or the title of the album suggesting that if someone was looking to buy this album that the image shown is icon enough for them to know who the band was. Furthermore, this CD includes the name of the recording company which is very common for CDS as it allows for the audience to understand the background behind the artists. It also allows for the record label to self promo.
